Posted: May 24, 2018 |
DNN Platform, formerly called DotNetNuke Community Edition, is a free, open source content management system (CMS). The platform is developed on the .NET framework and designed as an easy to use system that does not require usage of extensive programming language. Features of this platform covers design skin that permits a website’s appearance to be changed easily along with ensuring the ability of incorporating third-party modules for adding additional functionalities. As the facility of supporting multi-tenancy of the CMS, the same architecture can hold multiple sites to be built on. In simple words, you may have visited various websites before you probably have gone through several things related to DotNetNuke CMS. It is similar to all other Content Management Systems like WordPress, Joomla or Drupal. It is an open source framework that can be accessible by anyone and is usually a free to use system, but it is based on Microsoft’s ASP.Net technology. Originally, the DNN platform was a program created by Shaun Walker and was based on IBuySpy Workshop as an extension to the open source IBuySpy Portal of the Microsoft. IBuySpy Portal was initially built on the dot net framework 1.0 as a reference application to create websites and applications using ASP.Net. It was further rebranded as DotNetNuke with version 1.0.5 of IBuySpy Workshop. DNN as a Content Management System (CMS) CMS is used as a tool to store, publish and update all the elements that exist on a website. This can cover videos, texts, data, pictures and forms etc. CMS comes as the back-end of the website, where the managers are permitted to log in using a username and password for making and then saving the changes that will reflect on the front end of the website. Website managers use CMS for publishing and modifying the website content and for this, they do not need to learn any specific code. A minimal knowledge is just useful to work with a CMS platform with some basic understanding only. DNN is straightforward and easy to learn system that makes it easier to edit the content instantly. Designing of DotNetNuke CMS is adaptable to all types of businesses. Whether you deal with an online business or not, DotNetNuke will help you in managing different types of website content. Only thing to deal with a responsible .net development company is to deal with your CMS building and maintenance project. Here you get a consistent experience of user-interface across different administrative fields. Wherever the contents are created, edited and updated by the content managers/developers, they are provided with similar, recognizable and easy to navigate dashboards. Another exciting but simple feature facilitated by DNN is that there is no constant redirection to new pages for content modification. In fact, when you are editing a content in this system, you get a content editor window popping up. This permits the managers/users to check out the live content next to the window in which they are making the changes. DotNetNuke 6.2 DotNetNuke 6.2 is the latest version of this CMS and is being referred to as the ‘Social CMS’. Here, the users are allowed to create their individual identities along with interacting with others through social features. Through the Journal module, the users are allowed to share updates in the form of links, text, photos or videos in a forum on your website.
